Went to the 50th birthday bash last night for Wayne B Campbell (of Mortal Sin fame), who has been a heavyweight in the Aussie metal scene for many years.
Now, since I’ve been in Sydney I’ve lamented to many that there’s a real lack of proper metal in this city. Last night showed me that it is alive in Sydney, just hiding, which is sad in a world of XFactor and Idols where people have their 5 minutes of fame and then vanish into obscurity, unlike a lot of the metal mainstays I saw last night.
Anyway, another thing I always grumble about is the lack of females in metal. However last night there was not one but TWO bands featuring female musicians: namely the very talented bassist, Shark, from the hugely entertaining Twin City Riot and the vocally talented Genevieve Rodda from Temtris, which is the band that Wayne currently drums for.
And boy can he still rock it.
Here’s one of their tracks from the 2014 album Shallow Grave
Enjoy
