DISTURBED.-D
I get a lot of flack from my metal-elitist buddies for my “softer” taste in music, but what it really is is finding the right tune for the mood I’m in. I love most metal genres, with the exception of stuff like screamer metalcore, pornogrind, crunkcore…You get the picture. Give me black metal, prog rock or industrial any day. Disturbed is my Coka-cola. It’s melodic, it’s metal, it’s rhythmic and it’s catchy as fuck.
The new album is no exception. I threw on my headphones and went for a long walk down the city streets, turning up the volume to drown out the traffic. It usually takes me a couple of listens to an album to identify the tracks I really like and which are probably going to end up as singles, but this was not the case with Immortalized. Title track, Immortalized, BAM! Loved it. It just keeps building the energy all the way through. I was walking in beat now with a stupid grin on my face. Track 3, The Vengeful One, BAM! Instantly teleported back to the early 00’s. It was Voices and Stupify all over again. Track 4, Open Your Eyes, fantastic. Head was now bobbing as I stomped my way down the curb.
Needless to say I was blown away. I obviously wasn’t the only one. This year has been kind to the alternative listener, and Immortalized is no exception. Do yourself a favour and grab a copy if you, like me, enjoy a little bit of Disturbed in your life.
The new music video “The Vengeful One” is almost at six million views! Check it out in HD here:
