People who sat down to watch Michael Bay’s 13 Hours in theaters were treated to a surprise trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, which is apparently a post-apocalyptic drama set in an underground bunker. Produced by J.J. Abrams and made by his Bad Robot production company, this trailer came at us out of nowhere.
10 Cloverfield Lane is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Josh Campbell, Matthew Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. The film started as a script titled The Cellar, but during production under Bad Robot Productions, it evolved to become what producer J. J. Abrams described as “a blood relative” of the 2008 film Cloverfield. The film is set to be released on March 11, 2016 and marks the directorial debut of Trachtenberg in theatrical features.
The internet is obviously abuzz with rumors about how JJ Abrams and Bad Robot somehow secretly produce a sequel to Matt Reeves' found footage sci-fi film Cloverfield. I am equally excited as Cloverfield was one of the best found footage movies ever made. I am a huge fan (needless to say) and am really looking forward to catching this one in the cinemas, especially since we get to see this as early as March!
