3Teeth is not just a band, it's an entity of satirical sadism that speaks to the ears of those mute to the political correctness of modern living. Their sweet sirens and calls to mania reach into your very soul and pull forth something primal and powerful as they remind you that you're simply bound by flesh.
Formed in 2013, the four-piece hail from La La land and consists of Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums) and Chase Brawner (guitars). Having released their self-titled album in 2014, they have been honing their skills as they morph into a dynamic band whose insane stage presence — in conjunction with aggressive sound and compelling visual art — make for a truly unique listening experience.
As 3Teeth reached a new creative peak, the talented Sean Beavan was brought in to take the band's recordings to the next level. A producer and mixer, Beavan has in the past worked on albums by NIN, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, and Slayer. The unparalleled quality of this album again speaks volumes about his professionalism and the secret recipe to the band’s continued success.
“Divine Weapon— is a subliminal thrill with its eerie keyboards and shamanic samples which give way to a thundering chorus that will have you screaming this anthem and banging your head in agreement.
“Oblivion coil” is smooth and sexy and gets the body moving with its groove and techno sampling. It makes full use of atmospheric keyboards in unison with synths and the sultry female vocal chorus makes for a fresh track bursting with funk as you sway to its hypnotic rhythm.
“Shutdown”, the title track, is a throwback to a time where the streets were alive with animosity and ill intent. Lulling from the profound chorus with incredible melody as it incites revolt with its thundering guitar and profound lyrics.
Don’t believe me? Just check out this killer video.
The filthy scratching of “Degrade— shares a message we can all take to heart, debase, belittle and slate as we “FUCK YOUR MARTYR!— It gets your body moving and forces you to stomp a hole in the floor as shed the day's frustration – all the while grinning from ear to ear!
This album is EBM at its finest; they fly the flag of great industrial acts who came before them. 3Teeth have returned to the fundamental grit and grime that was 90s industrial but bring the sophistication of modern production and top notch sampling to the table.
“Tabula Umbra— is crazy condensed into a nice 02:44 making for a stunning intermission into what has already been an exciting and tantalizing play-through.
“Voiceless— is a techno-driven mind-fuck of fantastic proportions, echoing in your mind which had me gripping my head, drilling my 7.1 headphones into my ears in an effort to “Side with silence—.
“SlaveGod” is nothing short of brilliance and an agonizing attempt to remind us that we could have the power but “Fear is our God—
“Insubstantia” is a haunting melody with a poignant message that I, as a suburbanite have asked than once and leaves you begging for more. Followed by the gothic wooing and piano laden distortion that is “B.O.A— you truly begin to understand the musical depth of this masterpiece.
The closer, “Away From Me— is a sign of things to come, Alexis serenades you with his guttural distorted vocals and you bow in obedience to the marvel that is 3Teeth as they rise through the ranks of industrial soar to become the pioneers of nihilistic metal and malice music that will fuel the scorned and jaded masses for years to come.
“Burning on the inside, freezing on the outside!”
Hard and heavy throughout this 13 track album boasts some of the freshest malice music that pierces through your senses and immerses you in their story; one of disdain and misanthropy. Noise that is nice and food for the savage soul. If you love the band as much as I do stay up to date with all things 3teeth via Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
