Those were the first words I heard Bill Paxton say when Arnold Schwarzenegger strolled up and demanded his clothes before punching through his chest. For many of us, Bill Paxton is action/ horror royalty. He was the only man to be killed by the Terminator, the Predator, a Xenomorph and probably Corporal Hicks (if you assume Johnny Ringo, played by Michael Biehn shot Paxton’s Morgan Earp). Now we have to say goodbye to him for the last time, and no matter how many on scene deaths he suffered, nothing prepared us for his sudden passing.
One of the best roles Bill Paxton performed was the Father of the Meiks Family in Frailty. Paxton also directed that film and its look into the world of religion, mental illness and violence was chilling.
Of course Aliens is by far my all time favorite movie. Nothing beats it and all of Bill Paxton’s one liners were instant film icons. “Have you ever been mistaken for a man?,” “Game over man!” “17 days?” All of these are repeated almost daily in our house and its all thanks to Paxton. However his acting career was by no means defined by his roll as Private Hudson. Paxton played great rolls in, Twister, Titanic, Apollo 13, and Tombstone. They are some of the best movies ever made.
On behalf of all of us here at Nevermore-horror, I just want to say thank you to Bill Paxton and our condolences are with his family and close friends. Our lives would not have been the same without you.
Born and raised in San Diego California, I grew up loving the action horror and sci-fi genres. The first R rated film I saw was Predator back when I was 8 years old. Aliens blew me away as a youngster and I made a M41-A pulse rifle out of paper towel rolls and rubber bands. I ran around for hours avoiding face huggers and blasting xenomorphs in my back yard and I am bringing that big imagination to Nevermore Horror.
